Special Issue on Advanced Energy Storage and Conservation Technologies for Sustainable Buildings in Smart Cities
Aims and Scope
As global urbanization accelerates, the building sector remains a primary driver of energy consumption and carbon emissions. Achieving carbon neutrality in smart cities urgently requires transforming traditional buildings into active, low-carbon energy hubs. However, the large-scale integration of distributed renewable energy faces severe challenges due to its inherent intermittency. Consequently, advanced energy storage and innovative building energy conservation technologies have become of paramount current interest. They serve as the critical nexus to bridge the gap between dynamic energy supply and building load demand, enhancing energy flexibility and ensuring grid stability.
This Special Issue aims to provide a premier academic platform for researchers to present cutting-edge breakthroughs in building energy systems. We welcome original research articles and comprehensive reviews focusing on novel energy storage mechanisms, low-grade waste heat recovery, and the intelligent integration of these technologies into built environments. By bridging fundamental thermodynamic principles with smart engineering applications, this Special Issue seeks to foster innovative solutions for resilient, zero-carbon building energy systems in future smart cities.
