Abstract

The Editors are issuing an Expression of Concern to alert readers that, after the publication of this article, concerns have been raised regarding the integrity and reliability of aspects of the research and reporting. Specifically, these concerns relate to the description of EEG data acquisition; inconsistencies between reported statistical results and narrative interpretations; discrepancies in classification accuracy values; incomplete or inconsistent sample and protocol information; insufficient details of ethical approval; and limited information on the deep learning methodology and data transparency.

The Editorial Office investigated these concerns in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies and relevant guidance. The authors were asked to provide clarifications and supporting documentation, including original data, device information, ethical approval documentation, statistical outputs, and model or code information where available. The authors cooperated with these requests and supplied responses and supporting materials.

However, the information and documentation provided have not fully resolved the concerns. Sufficient doubts remain regarding the reliability and interpretation of the reported methods, analyses, and conclusions. Readers are therefore advised to interpret the findings of this article with caution. The article record may be updated should further editorial action be warranted.

Author Saikat Gochhait disagrees with this Expression of Concern and requested that no statement be placed on the article pending further laboratory testing and validation. The remaining authors did not explicitly state whether or not they agree with this Expression of Concern.
