Founded in 1952 and located in Nanjing, a renowned historical and cultural city, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. As a “Double First-Class” university, a key university under the “211 Project” and the “985 Project Innovation Platform,” NUAA is recognized as one of China’s leading research universities with distinctive strengths in aviation, aerospace, and civil aviation.
As one of the first higher education institutions established in China specializing in aviation, NUAA has developed over more than 70 years into a comprehensive research-oriented university featuring engineering as its core strength and coordinated development across multiple disciplines. The university has three disciplines, including Aeronautical and Astronautical Science and Technology, Mechanics, and Control Science and Engineering, selected for the national “Double First-Class” discipline development initiative.
NUAA currently consists of 25 schools and 231 research institutions, supported by 12 national-level scientific research platforms, including key laboratories in aerospace structures, mechanics, control, and helicopter dynamics. The university has established a strong research foundation in advanced aerospace technologies, intelligent systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and engineering innovation. It has achieved numerous breakthroughs in aviation and aerospace science and technology, contributing significantly to major national aerospace projects and technological development.
NUAA has more than 3,900 faculty members, including distinguished researchers and high-level academic talents, and serves over 36,000 students. NUAA offers a comprehensive education system with 71 undergraduate programs, 32 master’s degree disciplines, 20 doctoral degree disciplines, and 17 postdoctoral research stations. It has established nationally recognized disciplines and research programs, including national key disciplines in aerospace-related fields and multiple defense-oriented disciplines.
