About the Journal

The Journal of Climbing and Walking Robots (JCWR) is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research on the theory, design, development, and commercialisation of all types of robots with a special emphasis on climbing and walking robots and associated support technologies. 

JCWR is established in collaboration with the CLAWAR Association, UK, a globally recognized organization dedicated to the advancement of climbing and walking robots and mobile machine technologies. This collaboration ensures a solid foundation, leveraging CLAWAR’s extensive research community, international conferences, and technical expertise, providing strong backing for the journal’s growth and global recognition.

The journal aims to serve as a leading platform for researchers in academe and engineers, and entrepreneurs in industry to share cutting-edge advancements in robot innovations for ensuring safety, performance enhancements and technology readiness levels for encouraging market entry for new robot products in new and traditional domains.

The journal is a Gold Open Access journal, online readers don't have to pay any fee.

The journal is currently free to the authors, and all Article Processing Charges (APCs) are waived until April 30 2026.

Articles in Online First are peer reviewed, accepted articles that are not yet assigned to volumes/issues, but have a DOI and are fully citable. Please note that the article in Online First version will be removed and the final version will appear in the associated published online volumes/issues of the publication if the final version is assigned to volumes/issues.
