Inaugural Editorial: Pioneering the Future of Wearable Technology

Abstract

It is my privilege to introduce Smart Wearable Technology (SWT), a premier open-access journal launched by Bon View Publishing Pte Ltd. in 2025. As Founding Editor-in-Chief, I envision SWT as a catalyst for interdisciplinary innovation—where materials science, electronics, and artificial intelligence converge to redefine wearables' role in healthcare, human-computer interaction, and sustainable development. This inaugural issue marks our commitment to pioneering solutions for global challenges.

SWT arises from the pressing need to integrate diverse disciplines—materials science, electronics, AI, and medicine—to address complex, real-world problems. Our scope encompasses functional materials, wearable devices, and foundational technologies; yet, our ambition extends further: to promote innovations that significantly enhance quality of life. Whether through soft robotics restoring mobility, AI-enabled sensors predicting health crises, or e-textiles reshaping fashion, SWT is committed to disseminating research that blends creativity with real-world applicability.

To ensure SWT evolves into a trusted and high-impact academic platform, we rigorously adhere to the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), upholding the highest standards in peer review, research ethics, and editorial transparency. Key policies include: immediate Desk Rejection for submissions outside the journal’s scope or lacking novelty; Single-Blind Peer Review by a minimum of two independent experts; and mandatory plagiarism detection and formatting/language checks prior to publication.

This inaugural issue is the result of collective dedication. I express my sincere appreciation to our Editorial Board—comprising leading scholars in wearable technology—whose strategic guidance shapes the journal's vision; to our reviewers for their meticulous and constructive feedback; and to the authors for entrusting SWT with their pioneering contributions.

To the global research community: SWT is your platform. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and proposals for special issues addressing emerging frontiers in wearable technology. Together, let us accelerate the advancement of next-generation wearables.
