Abstract

It gives me great pleasure to write an editorial note for the first edition of the new journal of Green and Low-Carbon Economy (GLCE). A warm welcome to the inaugural issue of GLCE, which is a new exciting title for Bon View Press portfolio journals for 2022. GLCE marks a new era for the green and low-carbon development field in approaching carbon neutrality. I am honored and fortunate to be part of GLCE and take responsibility as Editor-in-Chief.

As reflected in the journal name, this pioneering journal seeks to understand and address the economic challenges in transitioning to a carbon-neutral world. We encourage authors to conduct multidisciplinary research by applying sound modelling or computational methods and analysis to identify effective and timely solutions for shifting to green and low-carbon economy. Subject areas include, but are not limited to, green and low-carbon economy transition, climate change mitigation and adaption, environmental degradation, renewable energy systems, natural resources management, cost and efficiency, governance, public policy and social behavior, ESG-environmental, social, and corporate governance, green finance, industrial and technological innovations, sustainable production and consumption, and built environment and infrastructure.

My vision for GLCE is establishing a vigorously peer-reviewed, open-access, leading platform with the mission to publish the most impactful and valuable research in fundamental areas for green and low-carbon economy studies worldwide. To take the journal to a high standard in terms of quality papers, we follow the core practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and handle cases of research and publication misconduct accordingly. Strict ethical guidelines for authors, editors and peer reviewers are presented clearly. We introduce desk reject, Double-Blind Peer-Review by at least 2 anonymous reviewers and Plagiarism Detection to ensure the high standards of GLCE. The accepted manuscript will enter the copyediting and layout editing process for language and consistency of format before the final publication. In addition, our editorial office managed effectively in dealing with submissions and review processes, which generally take around two months from submissions to final decisions and five days from acceptance to publication.

Initially, we worked hard to find various ways to reach potential authors to receive quality papers across the globe for GLCE. In a short period, GLCE has attracted many submissions with good quality from both developing and developed countries. We are happy to release the first online issue in July 2022, which is composed of eleven articles on various interesting topics, including the coordination of renewable energy development and small business, intergenerational fairness and climate change adaptation policy, green impact fund for technology, impact of climate change on food security and so on. We hope that you enjoy reading them. For this achievement, we should thank our team for their efforts, hard work, and significant contributions.

I feel greatly honored to be the founding Editor-in-Chief and take the responsibility to develop GLCE into a premier professional journal in the green and low-carbon economy field. It is also my great honor to work with an excellent team of editorial board members and associate editors, who are all pioneers in different areas of the green and low-carbon economy field. They take each submission carefully and make sound recommendations to benefit the research community the most. Also, they propose timely special issues in their fields to attract unique and innovative studies at the moment.

To increase the visibility and impact of our journal, we need to explore new ways to reach readers and authors to receive more papers with good quality in interdisciplinary areas. I would like to take this opportunity to invite researchers to engage the green and low-carbon economy studies and submit your research output in the form of research article and review to GLCE. We believe the topic is interesting and crucial to the future carbon neutrality society.

I wish to close this inaugural editorial by expressing gratitude to all for your support from the editors, reviewers and researchers. Last but not least, I would like to thank the Publication Board, Bon View Press personally and managing editor Dawn Luo for their great support and enthusiasm. I will welcome and value greatly on your suggestions and ideas to make the journal more impactful and to serve the research community better.

Wishing all the contributors and readers of Green and Low-Carbon Economy (GLCE) good luck!
