Call for Papers - SI on Green Energy Transition for Sustainable Economy and Environments

Special Issue on Green Energy Transition for Sustainable Economy and Environments

Aims and Scope
World economies raced to the bottom to boost production scales and upscale consumption levels, causing ecological destruction. From one standpoint, economies concentrated on increased output levels, which amplified the utilization of fossil-based and inefficient energy sources, resulting in an escalated discharge of carbon dioxide and other ecological footprints. To achieve a sustainable economy and environment, it has become inevitably critical to consider energy transformative development by transitioning to green and low-carbon energy modes. The green energy transition would help upgrade traditional industrial manufacturing by conserving energy and reducing environmental emissions. Such energy transition would need the development of environmentally friendly renewable and energy efficiency-enhancing technologies. Adopting such technologies will not only improve the green total factor productivity and green growth but also mitigate ecological adversities and climate change.

Though the existing pool of knowledge provides promising evidence that green energy sources can potentially improve environmental quality, it rarely considers green energy transition, a progressive way to increase economic production while conserving natural resources and ecological systems. This special issue will explore how green energy transition contributes to environmental and economic sustainability for sustainable development.

Note on 10th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City (SILCC) Forum
After successful nine forums, Shenzhen will continue to hold 2022 the 10th Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum in March 2023. The theme of this forum is “Promoting Green Economy Recovery through Achieving Carbon Peaking and Neutrality Goals”, which focuses on green economic recovery and low carbon transformation in the post-epidemic era. The conference plans to invite experts from related fields to give special lectures on low carbon technology development, low carbon policies, collaborative development of regional carbon emissions reduction and pollution control, and green finance. This SI is open for submission to conference participants, as well as contributors around the globe, who are interested in contributing to this hotly debated topic.
