Call for Papers-SI on CLAIRvoyantS
Special Issue on Artificial Intelligence Regulation and Safety - CLAIRvoyantS
Aims and Scope
This Special Issue collects a selections of papers derived from the 3rd edition of the workshop CLAIRvoyantS (ConventicLE on Artificial Intelligence Regulation and Safety) which aims to foster discussion on the current state of AI regulation and the use of AI within regulatory contexts. The European Union has been among the first jurisdictions to introduce a comprehensive framework for AI through the AI Act, setting a precedent that is likely to influence regulatory developments worldwide.
In a global and transnational IT market—where systems are developed, deployed, and accessed across different jurisdictions—the AI Act is expected to have significant impact not only within Europe but also internationally. As other countries advance their own regulatory initiatives, the harmonisation of diverse legal frameworks becomes a critical challenge for organisations operating across borders.
At the same time, AI adoption is rapidly expanding in sensitive and high-risk domains such as law and healthcare, raising important questions about transparency, reliability, and trustworthiness. This Special Issue addresses these challenges by exploring the benefits and limitations of AI, its applicability in high-risk contexts, and the mechanisms for ensuring regulatory compliance. Overall, it aims to contribute to the ongoing debate on how to responsibly develop, deploy, and govern AI systems in complex socio-technical environments.
