Special Issue on Advancements and Applications of IR 5.0 for Benefit of Society

Aims and Scope

The rapid advancement of information retrieval (IR) technologies, especially with the emergence of IR 5.0, has transformed the landscape of data science and its applications. While there are many exciting possibilities, it is essential to ensure that these advancements and applications are beneficial to society. Data science is increasingly important for improving society in the era of Industry 5.0 (IR 5.0), which is characterized by the convergence of physical and digital systems, and the emergence of intelligent, autonomous, and decentralized systems. Data science plays a crucial role in improving society in IR 5.0 such as by enabling more efficient use of resources, reducing waste, improving public health, and enhancing the quality of life for people living in smart cities. Therefore, this special issue seeks to explore how IR 5.0 can be leveraged to address societal challenges, promote social good, and create positive impacts using data science.
